Code of Conduct

New for 2025 MPTC has adopted an official code of conduct.  All members are expected to become familiar with and abide by these term.   The code of conduct is to help ensure we maintain a fun, positive and respectful environment for the enjoyment of all.

At Mount Pleasant Tennis Club, we strive to foster an environment of respect, sportsmanship, and enjoyment for all members. As such, we expect all members, guests, and staff to adhere to the following code of conduct:

 

1. Respect for Others: Treat all members, guests, and staff with courtesy and respect, regardless of their skill level, background, or identity. Discrimination, harassment, or any form of disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.

 

2. Fair Play: Play by the rules and uphold the spirit of the game. Cheating, unsportsmanlike conduct, or any form of dishonesty during matches or competitions is unacceptable.

 

3. Safety First: Prioritize the safety of yourself and others at all times. Follow all safety guidelines and instructions provided by staff, especially regarding equipment usage and court etiquette.  Players are responsible for assessing weather and court conditions before playing. Playing during hazardous conditions (e.g., rain, lightning, extreme heat, or poor air quality) is at the player's own risk. The club is not liable for injuries, damages, or accidents resulting from play in such conditions

 

4. Maintaining Facilities: Help maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the club facilities. Dispose of trash properly, report any damages or hazards to staff promptly, and treat equipment with care. Members are responsible for ensuring the clubhouse and courts are locked and the lights are off before leaving should no one else be around.

 

5. Booking, Court Usage and Guest Policy: Respect the club's booking policies and honor reserved court times. Be mindful of other members' schedules and avoid monopolizing court time if others are waiting. Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests at all times. Members must ensure their guests follow all club rules and policies. Additionally, if a guest does not pay the required guest fee, the hosting member will be responsible for covering the fee.  

 

6. Fees: All membership, guest, tournament, and event fees should be paid in a timely manner to support the smooth operation of the club. We appreciate members keeping their payments up to date to help ensure a great experience for everyone.

 

7. Attire and Equipment: Wear appropriate attire and (non-marking) footwear while on the courts. Use proper tennis equipment and refrain from using equipment in a manner that may cause damage to the facilities or endanger others The ball machine is to be used responsibly and only when courts are not in high demand. If other players are waiting for a court, the ball machine should not be used. Players must follow all usage guidelines and ensure the machine is properly stored after use.

 

8. Controlled Behavior: Members and guests are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner both on and off the court. Disruptive, aggressive, or inappropriate behavior, including excessive yelling, racquet abuse, or unsportsmanlike conduct, will not be tolerated. Everyone is responsible for fostering a positive and inclusive environment at the club.

 

9. Alcohol and Substance Use: The responsible consumption of alcohol is permitted at the club in designated areas and during approved events. Excessive drinking or disruptive behavior due to alcohol use is not acceptable. Members and guests must comply with all local laws and club policies regarding alcohol. Alcohol consumption is prohibited on the courts or in any areas where it may interfere with the enjoyment and safety of others.

 

10. Children and Pet Supervision: For the safety and comfort of all members, pets are not permitted on the club premises at any time. This includes both the courts and all other areas of the facility. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times while on the premises. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

 

11. Resolving Disputes: Members are encouraged to resolve any disputes or disagreements directly with the involved parties in a respectful and constructive manner. If a resolution cannot be reached through direct communication, the matter may be brought to club management or the Board of Directors for further consideration. We encourage all members to address conflicts calmly and professionally to maintain a positive and harmonious environment.

 

12. Representing the Club: Uphold the reputation of the club both on and off the premises. Conduct yourself in a manner that reflects positively on the club and its members.

 

All members and guests are expected to follow the club's Code of Conduct. Violations may result in consequences, including verbal or written warnings, suspension of privileges, or, in serious cases, revocation of membership. The club reserves the right to take appropriate action to ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all.
